Saturday June 4, 2016 the Ohio Machine were oiled, tuned, and ready for their meeting with Florida Launch for game number two. But this time it was on the Machine’s home turf at Ohio Dominican University. The Ohio Machine won the first meeting back on April 23 in Florida by a close score of 16-14. They would give the Launch their sixth loss of the season. Final score: Ohio 17—Launch 13.
Way to start a season. The game started off hot but no rain. #11 Roman Lao-Gosney scored the first goal for the Launch just under 90 seconds. Next came a nice save from the big man in goal #42 Scott Rodgers. #3 Jake Bernhardt answered back with a goal for the Machine. The Machine ended the first quarter 6-2.
The Launch scored four more goals in the second quarter, as the Machine finished the half with three more. Staring at the half 9-6 Machine.
In the third both teams would each score four as the rain came down in Columbus.
The Launch kept searching for more goals in the fourth, but Rodgers wasn’t going to let that happen on his watch. The Launch put three more in net in the fourth, with the Machine notching four. Ohio haw defended their home turf well, winning all their home games. In the end the Machine would give the Launch their sixth loss on the season. Final Score: Ohio 17-Florida 13.
For Ohio, #41 Mark Cockerton and #1 Marcus Holman had four goals apiece; and #26 Tom Schreiber had two goals and one assist. A big nod goes out to the Machine defenses. My favorite goalie #42 Scott Rodgers ended the game with 14 saves. With not much time for rest, I’m sure Coach Bear Davis is going to take the winning momentum to Charlotte this Thursday. The Ohio Machine are now 5-2 on the year.
