On Thursday June 2, the Rochester Rattlers (2-3) played their second home game of the season against the red hot Ohio Machine (5-2) at the Wegman’s Sports Complex in front of a crowd of 1,010.  Rochester would also pick up their second win of the season as they downed the Machine 13-9.

The first quarter of play would be a back and forth quarter for both sides; ultimately it would be Rochester striking first just 44 seconds into the quarter as Jordan Wolf would hook up Jesse King putting the Rattlers up 1-0.  Ohio’s Mark Cockerton would answer back at 2:47 to make it a 1-1 game.  Rochester would net their second goal from John Ranagan at 4:16 unassisted.  The Machine’s Marcus Holman would follow it up with an unassisted goal at 5:03 making it a 2-2 game.  Rattlers would go up at the 7:02 mark getting a goal from Kip Orban.  The Machine would get the last goal of the quarter at 9:46 on a power play goal from Tom Schreiber making it a 3-3 game at the end of the first.

Rochester would take over in the second quarter with Ranagan netting his second goal of the night unassisted at 1:52.  Ohio’s Cockerton would answer back for the Machine also netting his second of the night at 2:57 tying the game at four apiece.  This would be the turning point in the quarter as Rochester would take over going on a four goal run.  It would only take two Rattlers getting the run going as Jeremy Boltus would net the first three goals of the run giving him the hat trick on the night with Wolf netting the fourth goal of the run at 13:20 making it an 8-4 game.  Ohio would get back two as they would get scores from Dominique Alexander at 14:45 and Schreiber with his second of the night at 14:59 making it an 8-6 game going into halftime.

The third quarter would become a standstill for both teams as both would combine for only three goals total.  Boltus would give Rochester a 9-6 lead after just 31 seconds of play; with Ohio netting the last two of the quarter with the first coming from Steele Stanwick at 1:33; and Cockerton completing the hat trick at 2:17 making it a 9-8 game heading into the fourth.

The fourth quarter would be all Rochester as they would go on their second run of the night.  Getting things started for Rochester would be Ned Crotty scoring at the 2:52 mark making it 10-8 Rochester.  Next for Rochester would be Wolf scoring at 4:23; then Crotty with his second of the night at 9:22; and Jordan MacIntosh with the last goal of the run at 10:30 putting Rochester up 13-8.  Ohio’s Marcus Holman would get one back for the Machine at 14:54 but it wasn’t enough.  Rochester would walk away with their second win.  Final Score:  Rattlers 13—Machine 9.

The Rochester Rattlers will be back in action June 11th as they take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks in Annapolis, Maryland.
