TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men’s lacrosse team continued with a top-10 ranking for a second-straight week. All three major polls were released Monday after an action-packed weekend.

Denver was the unanimous number one team in the country this week after upending this week’s second-ranked team, Notre Dame, 9-8 in overtime. Syracuse was voted third, followed by Ivy Leaguers Yale and Brown at fourth and fifth, respectively.

Then No. 6 Towson (5-1) suffered its first loss of the season at then-No. 11 Johns Hopkins. Towson slipped four spots in the Nike/USILA Coaches Poll to No. 10. The Tigers are the top-ranked team in the Colonial Athletic Conference, with Hofstra sitting in 12th. Towson picked up 184 points, two spots behind the Blue Jays’ No. 8 ranking and 240 points.

The Tigers remained inside the top 10 in this week’s Cascade/Maverik Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, collecting 307 points. Again Towson is the highest ranked program in the CAA, sitting four spots above No. 12 Hofstra, which garnered 292 points.

In the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Top 20, the Tigers slotted in with the No. 10 ranking. Hofstra was the second-highest CAA schools in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings at No. 12.

Towson squares off with Ohio State Tuesday night from Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes received votes in all three polls. Opening faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. as the game is broadcasted on the Big Ten Network with Mike Wolf and Greg Bice on the call.

The Tigers will play their second-straight game as a top-10 team for the first time since the 2003 postseason, when it was ranked No. 9 against Penn State and Johns Hopkins.
