WASHINGTON – Two top-10 programs will square off in the Mile High City as the sixth-ranked Georgetown University men’s lacrosse team travels to face No. 7/10 Denver on Saturday. Both the Hoyas and the Pioneers are 8-2 overall and sit tied atop the BIG EAST standings at 2-0 on the year.

About Georgetown
- Georgetown is coming off another solid defensive performance in an 11-8 league victory over Marquette last weekend.
- The Hoya defense held its eighth-straight opponent to 10 goals or under against the Golden Eagles. They held Marquette scoreless for spans of 19:01, 17:03 and 11:26 in the game – including blanking MU in the third quarter – and held Marquette 0-4 in man-up situations.
- Anderson Moore tied a career high with 14 saves and set a personal best with six ground balls against Marquette to earn BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors as well as a spot on the USILA National Team of the Week.
- Seamus Foley was credited with three caused turnovers for the second-straight game while Wallace Halpert and Will Godine both had a pair.
- Aidan Carroll led the Hoyas with two goals and two assists against MU while Patrick Crogan and Alexander Vardaro both scored twice as well.
- On the season, Carroll leads the Hoyas with 36 points (24G, 12A) while TJ Haley has 34 (8G, 26A) and Vardaro adds 30 (23G, 7A). Graham Bundy Jr. has 29 points (21G, 8A) and both Joe Cesare (9G, 5A) and Jordan Wray (12G, 2A) are tied with 14. Crogan (11G, 2A) and Kade Goldberg (2G, 10A) round out the Hoyas scoring in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
- At the ‘X’, Ball has won 114 of 187 (.610) faceoffs to rank ninth nationally and has collected 61 ground balls in 10 games this season.
- Defensively, Halpert has been credited with 12 caused turnovers while Ty Banks, Foley and Dylan Hess each have 10.
- In goal, Moore boasts a 9.45 goals-against average – eighth best in the NCAA – to go with a .534 save percentage and 106 saves.
Scouting Denver
- The Pioneers are coming off an 18-8 win over St. John’s last weekend. Denver owns one-goal wins over ranked foes Johns Hopkins and Cornell while its only two losses came against then-No. 15 Yale and then-No. 3 Duke.
- JJ Silltrop (21G, 10A) and Michael Lampert (14G, 17A) both have 31 points to lead the Pioneers while Noah Manning adds 18 points (14G, 4A).
- On faceoffs, Alec Stathakis has taken all but 10 attempts on the year, winning 151-of-249 (.606) 77 ground balls.
- Defensively, Jimmy Freehill has been credited with 13 caused turnovers while AJ Mercurio adds 10.
- In goal, Malcolm Kleban has started all 10 games for Denver. He has a 9.68 GAA to go with 96 saves and a .503 save percentage this season.
Series History
- Saturday’s meeting will be the 16th all-time between the two programs with Denver holding a narrow 8-7 series lead.
- Georgetown has won the past five meetings, including twice in the 2023 season.
- The Pioneers’ last win came in 2019 in Denver, the last game Georgetown lost to a BIG EAST opponent.
