WASHINGTON – Anderson Moore was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season while Seamus Foley earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-straight week, as announced by the league office on Monday. The duo helped the sixth-ranked Hoyas to another impressive defensive performance in an 11-8 win over Marquette conference action over the weekend.
Georgetown’s defense held its eighth-straight opponent to 10 goals or under against the Golden Eagles. They held Marquette scoreless for spans of 19:01, 17:03 and 11:26 in the game – including blanking MU in the third quarter. The Hoyas held Marquette 0-4 in man-up situations.
Moore tied a career high with 14 saves and set a personal best with six ground balls against the Golden Eagles. He has recorded at least 10 saves in seven of GU’s 10 games this year and posted his third game with more than a .600 save percentage on Saturday. Moore’s five BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors is one shy of teammate TJ Haley’s BIG EAST record of six FOW awards in 2021.
Foley continued to impress at close defense, leading the Hoyas with three caused turnovers on the day. He has been credited with six caused turnovers in his last two games, more than doubling his career total.
