WASHINGTON – Georgetown University’s men’s lacrosse team hits the road for a nonconference showdown at No. 18/19 Penn in Philadelphia on Saturday at noon. The Hoyas look for their first win of the season while the Quakers open their 2024 campaign against the Blue & Gray.

About Georgetown
- The Hoyas (0-2) are coming off a close battle with then-13th-ranked Johns Hopkins, falling 11-9 to the Blue Jays in GU’s home opener.
- Graham Bundy Jr. and Aidan Carroll both had three goals to lead the Hoyas while TJ Haley quarterbacked the offense with a goal and three assists.
- Bundy collected a career-high eight ground balls and earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts.
- In goal, Anderson Moore had 11 saves in cage to go with five ground balls. He now has 19 saves on the year in his first collegiate season.
Scouting Penn
- The Quakers open the 2024 season against Georgetown at historic Franklin Field for the second time in three seasons.
- Penn was picked to finish fourth in the Ivy League Preseason Poll behind Cornell, Yale and Princeton.
- Despite the graduation of consensus First Team All-American Sam Handley, the Quakers return the bulk of their scoring from their 2023 squad that went 7-6 overall.
- Defensively, Brandan Lavelle earned preseason All-America honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse while goalkeeper Emmet Carroll is back after posting an 11.16 goals-against average to go with 174 saves and a .549 save percentage last season.
Series History
- Georgetown and Penn have only played four times in program history.
- The Hoyas own a 3-1 series lead, but the Quakers won the last meeting 9-7 on the Hilltop in 2023.
- Georgetown’s last win was a 10-8 victory at Franklin Field in 2022.
- The two other showdowns in the series were a 10-7 Hoya victory in 1993 and a 17-8 Georgetown win in 1994.
