DENVER — The Denver Outlaws selected seven players in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft held Saturday in Charlotte, N.C. Denver selected Sacred Heart University midfielder and Colorado native Max Tuttle with its first selection (sixth overall).
Tuttle, a graduate of Castle View High School in Castle Rock, Colo., earned honorable mention All-America honors in 2018 and has scored 21 goals through seven games in 2019.
“Max Tuttle is a premier talent and we’re thrilled that he was available at No. 6,” General Manager Jon Cohen said. “He’s one of the most athletic midfielders in all of lacrosse, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to our team.”
With the ninth overall pick in the first round, Denver selected attackman Daniel Bucaro from Georgetown University. Bucaro has totaled 39 points (24 goals, 15 assists) through seven games this season.
The Outlaws chose attackman Chris Aslanian from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with their second-round pick (18th overall) and defenseman Brandon Jones from Air Force in the fourth round (36th).
Denver also added Kyle Marr (Johns Hopkins, 45th), Jack Rowlett (North Carolina, 54th) and Kyle Pless (Rutgers, 63rd).
Drafted players will be able to sign professional contracts at the conclusion of their NCAA season.
The Outlaws open their season on May 31 in Hempstead, N.Y. against the New York Lizards and will play their first home game of the season on June 27.
