RICHMOND, Va. – After leading the No. 7/No. 6 Towson men’s lacrosse team to its second conference win of the season, senior attackman Spencer Parks was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. The conference office announced the weekly award Monday morning.
It is the second time this season Parks has earned CAA Player of the Week honors after he was selected on March 21. Fairfield’s Colin Burke was named CAA Rookie of the Week. The April 11th honor is the sixth time this season a Towson men’s lacrosse student-athlete has earned a weekly honor. Parks is the first Tiger to win multiple CAA Players of the Week this year.
Parks, who hails from Fallston, Maryland, led the Tigers with four points, logging his second hat trick of the season while adding an assist to his day. The starting attackman scored what proved to be the game-winning goal early in the third quarter as Towson out-scored UMass 5-2 in the second half en route to the 11-8 victory in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Late in the first quarter, Parks hit line mate junior Joe Seider with an assist as Towson capitalized on an extra-man opportunity. It was his 11th assist of the season, ranking him second on the squad in that category.
Parks and the Tigers, ranked sixth in this week’s Cascade/Maverick Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, return to Johnny Unitas ® Stadium for a CAA tilt with rival Delaware. Opening faceoff for the game, which will be Military Appreciation Day, is set for noon.
