After evaluating his options during the Premier Lacrosse League’s player movement period, legendary attackman Rob Pannell officially signed with the Maryland Whipsnakes through the 2026 season in hopes of capturing a PLL Championship.

At 35 years old, Pannell brings an impressive resume to Maryland as an 11-time All-Star and two-time All-Pro.

The 2013 Tewaaraton Award winner from Cornell also ranks among the top in pro lacrosse records books. Pannell ranks second all-time in assists (287), third in points (611) and fourth in goals (322), and he is ready to improve those numbers with Maryland.

Pannell spent the last four seasons with the California Redwoods, appearing in every game and amassing 131 total points (59G, 72A). In 2024, he tallied 15 goals and 15 assists, ranking first among Redwoods players and tied for 10th in the PLL in points.

With Maryland, Pannell is expected to join reigning Rookie of the Year TJ Malone and 2019 MVP MattRambo on the Whipsnakes’ attack, taking over the vacant position left by Zed Williams, who was traded to the Philadelphia Waterdogs during the offseason.

Pannell is Maryland’s first major signing since the PLL player movement window opened on March 3.

The 2025 PLL season kicks off on May 30 in Albany, N.Y. The Whipsnakes will open their season with a Cash App Championship rematch against the Utah Archers (May 31, 1 p.m. ET) featuring Pannell in the red and black for the first time.
