WASHINGTON – Three Georgetown University men’s lacrosse players earned BIG EAST Preseason accolades and the Hoyas were once again unanimously selected to win the conference by the league’s coaches, as announced by the BIG EAST on Thursday. Graham Bundy Jr. was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and was joined by Alexander Vardaro and Dylan Hess on the Preseason All-BIG EAST team.
Georgetown topped the poll with 25 points and five first place votes, followed by Denver with 21 points and the remaining first place vote. Coaches could not vote for their own team in the poll. Marquette came in third with 16 points with Villanova right behind with 14 points. Providence and St. John’s rounded out the poll with nine and five points, respectively.
The Hoyas have won league record five-straight BIG EAST Tournament Championships and three-straight BIG EAST Regular Season Championships, the last two outright in 2022 and 2023.
Bundy was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season. A three-time First Team All-BIG EAST performer from 2021-23, Bundy was also selected as the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year in 2022.
Vardaro joins the Hoyas as a graduate student after a stellar career at Princeton as an undergrad. He was a First Team All-Ivy performer as a senior in 2023 and Honorable Mention All-Ivy as a junior in 2022.
Hess earns his first BIG EAST preseason accolade as a senior. He has earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors twice before, last season as a junior in 2023 and as a freshman in 2021.
