INCLUDING UNIVERSITY OF DENVER GRADUATE ZACH RUNBERG
DENVER — The Denver Outlaws announced Thursday that the team has signed five players from last weekend’s open tryout in Denver, including University of Denver graduate and Colorado native Zach Runberg.
Attackman Kohta Kurashima, midfielders Runberg and Henry Schoonmaker, faceoff specialist Kinori Rosnow and goalie Kohl Thornton will be among the 40+ players invited to training camp next month.
“We’re blown away by the level of competition at our open tryouts every season, and this year was no exception,” General Manager Jon Cohen said. “We’re excited to host these players at our training camp next month and feel confident that all five have a chance to contribute this upcoming season as we look to defend our MLL title.”
Runberg, a 2018 graduate of the University of Denver, is a native of Littleton, Colo., and attended Arapahoe High School. The defensive midfielder played in 40 games at Denver, tallying eight points (4 goals, 4 assists), 37 grounds balls and four caused turnovers.
The Outlaws’ Denver training camp is slated for May 18-19 at the Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse at UCHealth Training Center. The team will hold a second training camp in Baltimore the following week before opening its season on May 31 against New York.
