The Rochester Knighthawks (2-11) were looking to end their seven game skid as they played host to the Calgary Roughnecks (7-7) at the Blue Cross Arena in front of a crowd of 5,394. Unfortunately the Knighthawks losing streak would now be at eight games straight as Rochester battled back and forth with Calgary for the first half of play and even held a 7-6 lead heading into halftime, but would end up being outscored 7-2 in the second half to give the Roughnecks a 12-9 win. This game would include nine penalties and seven power play goals between the two teams as Rochester would go 4 for 5 on their man up situations; and Calgary would be perfect at 4 for 4.
Leading the way for Calgary would be Curtis Dickson (5g, 4a) and Dane Dobbie (3g, 3a) combining for eight out of the twelve points for the Roughnecks. Other Calgary Roughnecks contributing would come from the likes of Rhys Duch (1g); Dan Taylor (1g, 1a); Zach Currier (1g, 1a); and Tyson Bell (1g, 1a).
Rochester’s Kyle Jackson would lead the way for the Knighthawks as he would tally a hat trick and assist on the night and Ryan Benesch adding two goals combining with Jackson for five out of nine points total for Rochester. The Knighthawks would also have four other players contributing Graeme Hossack (1g, 2a); Brad Gillies (1g); Luc Magnan (1g); and Cody Jamieson (1g, 2a). Final Score: Calgary 12—Rochester 9.
NEXT UP:
Rochester (2-11) will now travel to take on the New England Black Wolves (7-6) on March 31st at the Mohegan Sun Arena for a 1:00 p.m. EST faceoff.
On Saturday March 30, game time 9:00 p.m. EST, the Calgary Roughnecks (7-7) will play host to the San Diego Seals (8-4) who are in first in the West Division and have clinched their first playoff berth as a franchise. Calgary sits at number two in the Division with Saskatchewan in third and one game behind Calgary. So this is definitely a must win to keep that cushion over the Rush for the Roughnecks.
