Walker and Gaines earn BIG EAST preseason player of the year honors

NEW YORK – The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team, Presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, has been selected as the preseason favorite to win its sixth-straight BIG EAST Regular Season title, the conference office released in a poll of the league’s head coaches on Wednesday.

In addition, junior Ethan Walker (Peterborough, Ontario) and senior Dylan Gaines (Baltimore, Md.) were named the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.

Joining Walker and Gaines on the 2019 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team are senior o-mid Colton Jackson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and senior close defender Dylan Johnson (Englewood, Colo.).

UP NEXT: Denver will host a Rocky Mountain Play Day on Saturday, January 26, at 11:45 a.m. MT, with a series of three games against local college club teams at 11:45, 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. MT. The Pioneers will then hit the road on February 2 for their final tune-up of the regular season against Delaware (8 a.m. MT), before officially opening the campaign at home against Air Force on February 9 at 1 p.m. MT.
