The Mile High Stars heading into tonight’s contest led the Best of Three game series 1-0. The Rangers had not been defeated since the league started in 2016, but the Stars were able to give them their first loss on the Rangers home turf on Sunday October 22, 2017 by the score of 13-12.  Saturday nights game would different. Final Score: Rangers 10–Stars 9.

The Parker Rangers headed to the Mile High Stars turf the Foothills Fieldhouse. If the Stars could win, they would win the second Front Range Cup. But the Rangers had a different outcome in mind.

The game was hard hitting and the net-minders, Brandon Scharaga for the Stars and Chris Lyons for the Rangers would hold tough in net staving off shot after shot. With only a few minutes left on the clock, the Rangers would break the scoreless period with Clark Woodard #22 forward for the Rangers getting on the board. But with time ticking down on the clock Stars forward Brendon Anger #32 would tie the game at one a piece. Chris Lyons starting goalie for the Rangers would leave the game about half way into the first when he took a shot and suffered a broken collar bone. Back up net minder Monte Rae Montgomery would step in front of the pipes for the remainder of the game. Score at the end of one: Rangers 1–Stars 1.

The second period was very aggressive with numerous penalties. Each team would score and only to be scored upon and at the end of the second, the score was 5-4 in favor of the Stars.

The final 20 minutes followed up much like the second with hard hitting, spectacular Canadian box lacrosse being played by both teams. Head Coache Dave Long and Asst. Head Coach Brian Langtry knew what they wanted the outcome to be. With Langtry’s experience having played professional lacrosse for much of his life, knew how to motivate the Rangers to keep playing hard and used the clock wisely. They were amazing on man-down penalty kills which paid off. With only two minutes remaining in the game, and the game tied at nine a piece, the Rangers would score again to put them up by one. They were successful on loose balls, the defense was strong and they kept the high-powered Stars from scoring allowing them to victory. Final Score: Rangers 10–Stars 9.

Game Three of the Series is Sunday October 29, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.at the Parker Fieldhouse and the RBLL-Colorado Sr. A Champions will be crowned and will head into the IBLA Championship Series on Saturday November 4 and Sunday November 5, 2017 at the Foothills Fieldhouse in Lakewood, CO.
