It was a cold and windy night in Boston where the Cannons (1-2) hosted the Rochester Rattlers (1-2). The Cannons needed their midfielder Nardella to win the majority of the face-offs if they wanted to win the contest.  Boston had not won since opening day on April 23 and didn’t want to head into Week Four with back-to-back losses.  The emphasis for the Cannons was on defense and they look focused going into the game.   The cold affected both teams as they got warmed up on this cold May night and unfortunately for Boston, the Rattlers would win the contest 14-10.

The first quarter would be a deadlock with neither team finding the back of the net.  Both net minders were holding strong between the pipes despite the cold temperatures.  Score at the end of one 0-0.

Rochester would start out the second with a bite.  Ned Crotty would notch a 2pt unassisted goal less than two minutes in; followed by Conor Gately also unassisted.  Kevin Buchanan would notch one for Boston at the 6:41 mark and the Cannons would be shut down for the remainder of the first half.  Rochester would hit three unanswered goals, two unassisted putting them up 5-1 heading into half-time.

Boston would start out the third with a shot from Kylor Bellistri, but Rochester would hit back twice.  Joe LoCascio would get the first of four (three unassisted) at 10:12, but again Rochester would hit back with another three-goal run, two from Kip Orban and another from Boltus.  LoCascio would pick up the next face-off ground ball and raced to the goal feeding to Will Manny for the quick score.  There’s a duo for you and this would start a six-goal run from the Cannons.  LoCascio would hit three in a row and David Emala would close out the third with back-to-back goals.  Things were looking up for Boston.  Score at the end of three:  Rochester 10—Boston 9.

A Rattlers three goal run to start the fourth combined with keeping the Cannons out of net until 12:15 in the fourth would seal the deal for Rochester giving Boston their second loss on the season.  Each of the four goals in the fourth would be unassisted and there would be a total of 14 unassisted goals in the contest.  Final Score:  Rochester 14—Boston 10.

On Saturday May 20, Boston (1-2) will host the New York Lizards (1-1) and Rochester (1-2) will host the Florida Launch (1-1).
