The new Arena Lacrosse League started their season on January 7, 2017.  The Six Nation Snipers in their first season were looking to show the hometown fans just how good their team is.  But it wasn’t in the cards as they lost a tough game to the Oshawa Outlaws.

But Saturday night January 14, 2017 was a completely different story.  The Paris River Wolves traveled down to the Six Nations and things didn’t end very well for them. The Snipers jumped out scoring five straight goals. Rayce Vyse would score first; followed by Patrick Corbett with two of his own during the stretch.

Paris player Bryden Curran got his team on the board and before the fans knew it, the game was 5-3. The Snipers were having nothing to do with that, put their foot on the gas; and never looked back. Roger Vyse; Layne smith; and Marty Hill started another run and soon after Travis Longboat got his second of the game.

The offense was led by Travis Longboat (seven points) while his former Junior B teammate Danton Miller had six; veteran Roger Vyse would come away with two goals and two assists; and Tommy Montour would notch four assists in transition.  Layne Smith had four points; with Haodais Maracle and Stu Hill each chipping in with three.

Not only were the Snipers able to push the ball up the floor after making great defensive plays but goalie Chase Martin was lights out between the pipes. Chase had a lot of highlight reel saves and played physical behind the net, while being named player of the game.

For the River Wolves, Bryden Curran and Dan Keane each had three points to lead their team.

The Snipers currently sit at (1-1) after their big 18-7 victory. They will be looking for their second home win next Saturday January 21, 2017 when they take on Toronto at 4pm at the ILA.
