Kennesaw-The Atlanta Blaze fell to the New York Lizards tonight in a hard fought match that lasted well into overtime. The Blaze scored first but the game continued to go back and forth as players from both teams touted impressive performances. At the half, the the Lizards were up by two but by the 3rd quarter the Blaze had fiercely responded with four unanswered goals. The 4th quarter continued an exciting game as the Lizards struck first, but the Blaze responded with a run of three unanswered goals. After both teams traded goals, the end of regulation score was 16-16. In a sudden death 10-minute overtime period, the final goal came from the Lizards to end the game 16-17.
Kevin Rice was on fire putting half of his shots on frame and putting four goals past the famed Lizards goalie, Drew Adams. Rice added to his remarkable game with three assists and also picked up two ground balls.
Rookie Deemer Class also had a tremendous game. He put away four goals including a two-pointer off of only five shots in the night. Class is looking to be a bright spot for the Blaze after only his second professional game.
