The Denver Outlaws are set to open the season at home Sunday May 1 against the Ohio Machine.
The Outlaws lost some key players in the Expansion and Supplemental Drafts in 2015. Not on the roster this year are mid-fielders Justin Pennington and Jeremy Noble who both were scooped up the Atlanta Blaze; veteran face-off man Anthony “A-Train” Kelly was signed by the Chesapeake Bayhawks; and goalie Jesse Schwartzman announced his retirement at the end of the 2015 season.

New Team Captain Jeremy Sieverts and Co-Captains Matt Bocklet and Drew Snider were key players in 2015 and will again be leaders on the team.
Outlaws fans were happy to see the Bocklet brothers, Chris, Matt and Mike who were not on the protected rosters during the Expansion and Supplemental Drafts are still with the team. Ryan LaPlante will be in net for the home-opener. LaPlante played for DU and on the team when they won the NCAA DI Championship in 2015. Fans will also be excited to see Callum Crawford on this field at attack.
Brent Hiken was re-signed by the Outlaws at the end of the 2015 season when Anthony Kelly asked to be released two games prior to the end of the season in the hopes of being picked up by a team in play-off contention. Hiken started his rookie career in an Outlaws jersey and with his energy; fans will be excited to see him at “X” this season.
Several Outlaws players are currently still playing for their National Lacrosse League teams, some of which will be further delayed in their return to the MLL because of the play-offs. They include:
Wes Berg (Roughnecks); Callum Crawford (Mammoth); John Grant, Jr. (Mammoth); Cam Holding (Mammoth); and Chris O’Dougherty (Stealth).
It will be exciting to see the Outlaws in action this year with the mix of new faces and veteran players.
We will be on the field for all the Outlaws home games this year, so stay tuned for our recaps as well as our photo galleries of the games.
