KENNESAW, Ga.—The Atlanta Blaze will kick off their season this Saturday April 23rd against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Blaze are coached by Head Coach John Tucker, and will face off against the Bayhawks at 5.
The young squad is captained by hometown hero and Walton High School graduate Scott Ratliff, who said in his letter to the fans of the Atlanta team, “The Blaze opener will be a celebration of Lacrosse and a tribute to all the people who have grown the game to where it is in Atlanta now; people Like Lou Corsetti, Rich Wehman, Tim Pritts, Liam Banks, Frank Daniels and many more.” The team will head into the first game determined to prove itself against the well-established Chesapeake Bayhawks. There is a lot on the line for the Atlanta Blaze, but the fiery midfield line as well as the wall-like defensive squad and quick attack will be able to put on a show for MLL fans young and old come Saturday.
“The entire organization is extremely excited to represent the city of Atlanta and the great state of Georgia in our opener against the Bayhawks. We have been working very hard and have a bunch of great people on this team. It is going to be a wonderful journey”, said Head Coach John Tucker regarding the home opener and inaugural game for the Atlanta Blaze.
Said Vice President of the Atlanta Blaze, Liam Banks, “The entire Blaze staff is extremely excited for our 2016 inaugural game. Our team can’t wait to take the field at Kennesaw State Fifth Third bank stadium tomorrow night at 5 pm. The atmosphere that the Atlanta lacrosse fans will provide tomorrow night will be electric, and our inaugural game will be a historical event in celebration of Atlanta lacrosse.”
The Atlanta Blaze plays their next home game on May 14th against the Denver Outlaws.
