TOWSON, Md. – Despite going 2-0 last week, the Towson men’s lacrosse team held firm in two of the national polls, but fell one spot in the Nike/USILA Coaches’ Poll.
Towson (7-1) switched places with the University of Albany in the Nike/USILA Coaches’ Poll. The Tigers picked up 237 points for the No. 11 ranking, while the Great Danes garnered 240 points after a 1-1 week. Towson was 10th in last week’s rankings, with Albany in 11th.
Denver was this week’s unanimous top-ranked program, with Notre Dame close behind. Yale, Brown, Syracuse rounded out the top five in the Nike/USILA Coaches’ Poll.
The Tigers are among three Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) teams ranked in this week’s Nike/USILA Coaches’ Poll. University of Massachusetts (4-4) was in at No. 17, while Hofstra (4-3) sits in 19th.
In the Cascade/Maverik Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, the Tigers held steady this week, picking up 336 points for the No. 9 ranking. Towson is the highest-ranked member of the CAA in the media poll, with Massachusetts sitting 18th with 75 points. Hofstra was slotted in 19th with 44 points.
Towson held true in this week’s Nike Lacrosse/Lacrosse Magazine Top 20, sitting at No. 10. Once again, the Tigers were the highest ranked CAA team as Massachusetts was tabbed 18th.
The Tigers return to Johnny Unitas ® Stadium on Saturday for their final nonconference clash of the season. Towson takes on Binghamton at 3 p.m. as part of a doubleheader day at Unitas Stadium. The Tiger women’s program hosts CAA foe Delaware at noon.
