Atlanta Blaze Acquires Nicky Galasso and Joe LoCascio from the Florida Launch

Kennesaw, GA – The Atlanta Blaze executed a trade today with the Florida Launch of Major League Lacrosse. The Blaze acquired Attackmen Nicky Galasso and Midfielder Joe LoCascio from the Launch. In exchange, the Blaze trades the 2017 2nd Round Supplemental pick and the 2017 4th Round College pick.

Nicky Galasso played in three games for the Launch, Scoring his first professional goal in his MLL debut against New York Lizards. Galasso started his collegiate career at North Carolina, where he set freshman records for points in a season, assists in a season and assists in a game for the storied UNC program while earning ACC Freshman of the Year honors and USILA Third Team All-American recognition. Nicky spent his last two years of eligibility at Syracuse, where he scored 49 goals and dished out 13 assists for 62 points in 30 games. He earned USILA Second Team All-American his senior year as well as ECAC Division I Men’s Lacrosse All-Star Team First-Team honor.

“We are excited about adding Nicky to the Blaze. Nicky has a high lacrosse IQ and is a proven scorer. We expect him to make an immediate impact for us on the offense,” said General Manager and Head Coach John Tucker.

LoCascio was Drafted by the Launch in the third round of the 2015 Collegiate Draft with the 17th overall pick. A native of Lindenhurst, N.Y., LoCascio made the All-Big Ten First Team and USILA Third-Team All-American honors with 26 goals and six assists in his final collegiate year with Maryland. Joe ended his time at Maryland with 56 goals and 16 assists for 72 points.

“Joe is an excellent shooter and will help us stretch the defense. He is a smart lacrosse player who comes from a family with a rich history in lacrosse. The Blaze is excited to add Joe to the team,” commented Coach Tucker.
