Tiger Lacrosse Moves Up in Two Polls, Holds Steady in Third

TOWSON, Md. – Following a 1-0 week, the Towson men’s lacrosse team jumped one spot in two of the three major polls, while staying steady in the third. The first polls of the regular season were released on Monday.

After opening 2016 with a nonconference win over visiting Mercer, Towson moved up one spot in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike Coaches’ Poll to No. 15, collecting 123 points. Towson picked up 97 points in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

In the Cascade/Maverik Division I Men’s Media Top 20, the Tigers (1-0) remained steady at the No. 17 spot, picking up 114 points. Following the 11-2 win over Mercer Friday night, the Tigers picked up another 11 points in the poll since the preseason rankings were announced.

The Tigers moved up one spot in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division I Men’s Top 20, swapping spots with in-state foe Navy into the No. 15 slot. The Midshipmen dropped to No. 16 after a split week.

Towson hosts Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday for the second leg of a three-game homestand to begin the season at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium. Opening faceoff is set for 2 p.m., following a Towson men’s basketball game against Elon at SECU Arena.
