Towson Men’s Lacrosse Home Opener Moved to Friday Night

TOWSON, Md. – When the wind speed is greater than the air temperature, something has to give. The 2016 season opener for the No. 16/No. 17 Towson men’s lacrosse team against Mercer has been moved to Friday evening at 6 p.m. inside Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled for noon on Saturday, but with temperatures in the Greater Baltimore area dipping into the teens, and winds anticipated near 25 miles per hour, the decision was made to move the game up to Friday night.

According to Weather Underground, temperatures for the opening faceoff on Friday will be around 25 degrees, but with very low winds. Temperatures should not dip below 25 as the game progresses. There is a zero percent of precipitation during the game.

The men’s lacrosse and men’s basketball doubleheader promotion with Special Olympics Maryland will still be honored. Tickets from the now Friday men’s lacrosse game will be honored at the gate of SECU Arena for the Saturday basketball game between Towson and William & Mary with a 4 p.m. tipoff.

Towson and Mercer will be meeting for the third time in program history and first time since the 2013 campaign. The Tigers are 2-0 all-time against the Bears, including a thrilling 9-8 overtime win in February, 2013.

We would like to thank Towson University for providing us with this information.
