TOWSON MEN’S LACROSSE CLIMBS IN ALL THREE POLLS THIS WEEK 2/22/16

TOWSON, Md. – After improving to 2-0 on the young season, the Towson men’s lacrosse team made moves in all three polls this week.

The Tigers have been ranked all season and continue to climb in the rankings after going unbeaten in the first two games of the year for the first time since 2007.

This week’s United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Association (USILA)/Nike Coaches’ Poll moved Towson up two spots to No. 13, picking up 133 points. The Tigers are one of two Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) teams ranked by the coaches this week, 12 points behind Hofstra at No. 12. The Pride, unranked last week, stunned No. 5 North Carolina 10-5 in Hofstra’s first game of the season.

In the Cascade/Maverik Media Poll, hosted by Inside Lacrosse, the Tigers jumped up three spots to No. 14 following their 9-5 win over visiting Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday. Towson collected 184 points in the poll.

Towson jumped two spots in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Men’s Top 20 for week two. The Tigers garnered the No. 13 spot after sitting at No. 15 in last week’s poll. Again, two CAA teams were ranked as Hofstra jumped to No. 11 after no ranking last week.

The Tigers get their first top-20 matchup of the season on Saturday as Towson welcomes in No. 17 Georgetown. Opening faceoff is set for noon at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium. The Hoyas (0-1) were ranked No. 17 by the coaches and media, while slotting at No. 14 in the Lacrosse Magazine poll.

It will be First Responders Appreciation Day at Unitas Stadium as Towson welcomes first responders from around the region. There will be an exhibition game between local police and fire departments following the non-conference game.

We’d like to thank the Towson University Tigers Men’s Lacrosse Team for providing us with these updates.
