The Rochester Knighthawks (3-4) took on the Toronto Rock (2-6) last night at the Air Canada Centre in front of a crowd of 10,299. Rochester was looking to pick up there first win on there long road game stretch, but the Rock had different plans in store. Final Score Rochester 6—Toronto 17.

The first period would be all Toronto as they would score first from Kasey Beirnes (Doyle, Hellyer) only 49 seconds into the first period. Toronto would then get another quick score 10 seconds later from Josh Sanderson at the 1:08 mark. Rochester would finally get on the board with a goal from Stephan Keogh (D. Dawson, Jamieson) at 1:34. The Rock would then go on a five goal run from Doyle, Sanderson, Hellyer, Leblanc and Beirnes to end the first period with a 7-1 lead heading into the second.

Rochester would then get one back to start the scoring in the second with a goal from Joe Walters (D. Dawson, Evans) at 1:51. However Toronto had other plans as they would go on another run getting scores from Hellyer; Beirnes (2g); and Lintner. Toronto would head into the half leading 11-2.

The third period would become a defensive stand still for both teams. However Toronto’s high powered offense would still get two on the board with Kasey Beirnes (4:19) getting his fifth of the night and Hellyer (13:12) getting the hat trick. Rochester would get one from Dan Dawson unassisted at the 7:22 mark; however Toronto still held a commanding lead heading into the fourth up 13-3.

Beginning of the fourth period would still be a defensive standstill until the 6:05 mark when Stephen Keogh would get his second of the night. However, like most of the game Toronto wouldn’t stop there as they would go on another run from Leblanc (2g) and Sanderson getting a hat trick putting the Rock up 16-4. Rochester would get one from Scott Campbell unassisted at 9:19 making it 16-5. Kasey Beirnes would add insult to injury as he would get one more for the Rock giving him the sock trick of the night making it 17-5 game. Newly acquired Mark Cockerton of the Knighthawks would end the scoring in fourth with a goal at 14:23. But it wouldn’t be enough as Toronto would just rock the Knighthawks with a final score of 17-6.
The Knighthawks will now travel on to play Calgary March 5th as there road game stretch begins to come to an end.
